It all started off over 300 years ago – back in 1696 to be precise. The Hand in Hand Fire and Life Insurance Society was set up in London at Tom’s Coffee House but it was not until Christmas Day 1797 that the first policy was issued insuring someone’s house and shop.
The business was no doubt better known as Norwich Union until it merged with CGU PLC when the joint venture became CGNU PLC in February 2000.
In June 2009 the 28 different business names within the Norwich Union Group were re-branded to become known as Aviva.
Aviva pride themselves on the quality of service their staff provide to customers.
Aviva are one of biggest providers of life, pensions, investments and various types of insurance including life insurance, motor insurance, home insurance, health insurance, travel insurance, business insurance and breakdown cover.
Within the motor insurance section they provide car, mulitcar, van, motorcycle, short term car, classic car, motorhome and business vehicle insurance.
Their car insurance can be purchased online or over the phone.
An interesting benefit for their car insurance policyholders is that, if the driver or passenger is injured in a car accident, Aviva will provide the services of a professional driving instructor to give an in car session to help restore the driver’s confidence in driving.
